What is coaching?

Coaching is a human science discipline and activity focused on supporting individuals, teams and/or organisations.

 

It is essentially a practical discipline derived from maieutics, which develops in the relationship between the coach and the coachee.

 

The coaching process consists of providing support and personal development through questioning.

 

 

It is based on a specific request from the client and on the formulation of a concrete objective to be achieved in the short or medium term.

 

This objective will have been developed as part of a dynamic of change, performance and revision of our perspectives.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

To do this, Coaching draws on and is complemented by other disciplines such as psychology, psychotherapy, NLP, philosophy, transactional analysis, organisational sociology, neuroscientific models and so on.

 

 

 

Instead of focusing on the ‘why’, coaching focuses on the “how”: how to change ‘here and now for tomorrow’.

 

 

 

This is why the Coaching process is limited in time: it necessarily seeks pragmatic effectiveness, with achievable objectives that are consistent with the potential of the coachee.

 

 

The aim of a life or career Coaching process is to establish a dynamic to optimise performance.

 

 

It also strengthens interpersonal skills (soft skills) in a safe, kind and welcoming environment of exchange between coach and coachee.

 

The coaching process will always be centred on an experience linked to the construction of our identity, our values and our deepest needs.
